CP. You can get a better one for that price if you’re willing to keep looking.

I think.

yeah but where’s the fun in that :)

but actually e-types have been going down in price, series 1 ‘verts are still expensive as hell but the later series 2 and 3’s have been depreciating

Put in a ratty interior, a built 4.2, and just drive the shit out of it as is to troll Jaguar shows.

That's where I draw the line. Lumping a Jag is murder. Yes, I know if I put a 302 in my XJ12 it could be my daily driver, but I like the surprise of whether or not it's going to start...it's like playing the lottery.

I don’t mind a nice lump, but they do lose a lot of their soul when it happens.

Yeah. We feel like you could avoid a lot of the Jagness and make something beautiful.

I get it with the XJS, and the XJ6 to a lesser extent since the 6 is just such a good engine...but lumping an E-Type should be a felony.

If you ask me putting anything other than a Jag engine in a pre-’80 Jag it’s a crime against humanity. If it needs a better engine, drop in a 90’s V12, I6 (supercharged, perhaps?) or even an AJ-V8.

Whoever allowed this car to get to this condition should be charged with some sort of crime and sentenced with community service, preferably hard labor restoring this thing.

Every time I see these it reminds me of the chance my dad had to own one. There was an old lady who lived near his house who had one in her driveway. I guess it was her son’s. Her son had been sent overseas to some combat and never returned. She would not accept that he was killed in combat. He was gone for 18 years... Everyone knew about his death. However, she thought he would be coming home. She was super close to selling it to him for $2,000 (in the 1980s) but backed out at the last minute. The thing was under a carport and wasn’t even rusted. When she eventually died, it was sold in the estate sale for way too much.
